“Blue Eyes”

Filed under: "What's New" — Marlene Fast @ 4:16 pm

I’ve been thinking of what my favorite image taken in 2007 was and I think ‘Blue Eyes‘ is the one. Although the choice was tough – as every client that walks through the door gives me an opportunity to preserve a moment in time – I like that – ‘preserve a moment in time’. How else would you describe what I do? Every time I click the shutter – that image will forever tell a story. Each time you look at it, you will remember everything that led up to the session – the planning that went into the session – the fun and craziness and laughter and joy at the session – viewing the image for the first time – having it tug at your heart – and then displaying it in your home. So, here I give you… “Blue Eyes“.

I could look at this portrait forever – ‘what is he thinking?‘ – ‘what is going through his mind?‘ You just want to know, don’t you?

“Negative” Sale…that doesn’t sound right!

Filed under: Blogroll — Marlene Fast @ 8:14 pm

I don’t mean this to sound negative – but we’re having a sale on all film negatives! If you’ve been reading my blog you will know that I have been celebrating 30 years in business. And I have thousands of sets of negatives in storage! You should see my storage room. Since I work in just the digital format now (and those files take up so little room) – I’m offering all film negatives for sale. So that includes the years 1977 to late 2002. I’m hoping to clean up my storage room and make room for other things, and I’m thinking that my loss is your gain!

This is a photo of the very first family I ever photographed back in 1977. Interesting story – they wanted an interactive portrait taken – didn’t have a pet – so they borrowed the neighbour’s dog for their photo session!

Here is a wedding portrait I took in 1987. The bride and groom are Frieda and Albert Wiebe. Some of you may remember Frieda as one of my staff members!

I have photographed over 1000 weddings and there are many wedding negs here for sale. I know what you’re thinking – sadly, a couple is no longer married so why would they want the negatives? But just think of it this way – included in those negatives there might be a photograph of Mom and Dad or perhaps the last photo taken of Grandma and Grandpa and how about the bride and her flowergirl – the flowergirl would probably love to have a photo of herself. So maybe 95 out of a 100 negatives might be of no use to you – but the 5 others could be priceless to someone!

We are offering the complete set of negatives for just $30 plus taxes. If you have been in the studio several times over the years – each set of negatives is being sold for $30.

Please call us at (204) 326-1813 or toll free (866) 604-0560 to purchase your negatives. We can ship them out to you for a $15 shipping and handling fee.

Please note that after the end of this year – we will be going through the negatives and destroying them.
